Yelissa N. Juárez M.
BSc.
As a biologist, I graduated from the University of Panama with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, specializing in Microbiology and Parasitology. I have extensive experience both in the field and in the laboratory. The completion of my final undergraduate project, funded by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Postgraduate Studies, sparked my interest in the world of research. In the near future, I plan to continue my studies with a Master of Science degree, followed by a PhD, focusing on biological sciences or public health. My goal is to apply and improve Panama’s healthcare system to prevent and control various health emergencies.
Over the past two years, I have been working in the field of virology, specifically studying arboviruses that primarily affect the Darien province.
Currently, I am collaborating on various projects such as CREATE-NEO, USAMRIID, SIVAT, among others, all in conjunction with the Carson research team. I am confident that we will achieve successful results to contribute to a better Panama.
