I am currently working on my undergraduate thesis, it is a part of the project for Environmental characterization of the Culex (Melanoconion) sp. mosquito´s habitat, focused on the causes and human influence on the distribution of these vectors and their ecology in the epidemiological chain as carriers of equine encephalitis in Darien.

I have previous experience as a biology student in tropical ecology, parasite epidemiology and infectious diseases working with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. I have studied the ecological role of lianas as parasitic structures in secondary forests and the identification of potentially infectious trematode parasites in humans in the invasive freshwater species Melanoides tuberculata. With experience in database management, I have also acquired knowledge in literature review methods of historical epidemics.

My focus as a thesis student is to acquire field knowledge and laboratory techniques that will continue to forge my path as a researcher. I plan my future as a scientist, where my participation in research will be useful in the visualization of the society-environment landscape and as a tool for dissemination and scientific connection in the epidemiology of tropical diseases, especially those most neglected.
