Zuleyka González
Currently, I am working on my undergraduate thesis at Carson Center, focusing on the detection of Oropouche virus in febrile patients in Peru. This virus is zoonotic with epidemic emergency potential, so its silent detection is crucial to understand its epidemiology and natural history. During my studies, I have gained experience at the Gorgas Memorial Institute for Health Studies (ICGES), working in the virology department with molecular tests for the detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
In the short term, my goal is to apply everything I have learned during my 4 years of academic preparation in the Bachelor’s Degree. In the long term, I focus on supporting research projects, developing skills in scientific research to generate new knowledge and effective strategies for the prevention and control of arboviral diseases, collaborating in studies that positively impact global health.
