David Pérez García
I am currently a student of Zootechnical Agronomist Engineering at the Universidad de Panama, developing my thesis on the epidemiology of equine encephalitis in Darien. During my 4 years of academic training and field practices, I have significantly improved my skills and professional ejiciency. Specializing in animal biotechnology, I have acquired knowledge in techniques such as fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI), embryo transfer (ET) and artificial insemination (AI). I also participated in a project on the development of corn silage with ejicient microorganisms and performed accurate diagnostics on the hormonal activity of cows and the life stages of calves. My experience in animal health includes the application of sanitary calendars in different species, maintaining their optimal health and welfare. I have focused in the physiology, health and proper management of equines, adjusting rations according to their energy needs, type of work, stage of growth and gestation.
My thesis work and the experience acquired during my training at the Universidad de Panama have prepared me to contribute as a scientist and future professional in projects related to zoonotic arboviral diseases. My long-term goal is to ensure scientific advances that improve global health, both human and animal, and to generate evidence for conservation.
